Thanks Michael. It took about an hour to carve. Its freehand
off of a "Fosters Home for Imaginary
Friends" cartoon image. I used to be a
leather craftsman and now can wield an exacto
blade pretty well. Photo could be better...low-light should mean
tripod and a longer exposure. Longer
exposure and handheld...a bit blurry.
so you didn't go all the way through with
most of it? that is my problem in carving
pumpkins b/c then the skin is too heavy to
support the thiner lines. chad<
exactly chad, with the exception of the litle
fourxfour window on the tall tower, and all
the larger windows, the lines are cut just
deep enough to reveal light from within. On the 4x4 window I experienced what you were
talking about.
Excellent personal touch! You and Mr. Exacto
should be proud. Did your
"treeters" get a good look? Thanks
for the light show, the focus is as good as
it needs to be. The mood is what counts.
Congratulations! This image is currently (or
was recently) one of Flickr's Top 10 most interesting photos for
01 Nov 2006. (It is/was on page one of the calendar view.) Would you
please add it to the Top 10 Interestingness pool? It would be a great addition!
Thanks all, your all far more impressed then
were the paultry 6 trick or treaters we had
come to our door/ My town has seen all the
kids replaced by retirees...Hitting the
neighborhood with my 6 year old only one of 5
houses had a pumpkin out and lights on.And
being out for an hour we only saw a handful
of other kids, and I live in a subdivision in
in a dense town. 5 years ago we'd get
hundreds of kids in our neighborhood.
Your praise is likely going to get me to
create a whole series of carved pumpkins next
year, at least I can share them on flickr.

Very clear for the 1/2 second handheld. Nice work, it's hard to believe someone can actually carve such a thing.

a beautiful creation & well controlled in the carvings on the outside to get that luminous look thru the outer skin of the pumkin, well done
